Hello Dear Music Lovers,
      Like so many confused buds in this warm and dry year YURT MUSIC  has decided to open early. However we are not a harbinger of a climate gone awry,  no we are simply too dang excited to wait for summer to welcome our ole pals  Breathe Owl Breathe back into yurt. Our fourth season of music on the edge (of the continent) continues with this special evening of music. Local songstresses Yesway will kick things off, their intricate and harmony rich sounds.

If you haven't heard Breathe Owl Breathe yet, you are in luck, as there is a whole realm of fantastic and fantastical music waiting to envelope you and color your world for a while. This trio originally hailing from Michigan, is often tagged under the banner of "indie folk, an ill fitting garment that they are more likely to tear up and and use as eye patches and capes than to be contained by. In reality the only parameters for this band seem to be that the music must be engaging (to each other and their listeners), full of heart and made with craftsmanship. The core musical line up of Breathe Owl Breathe is guitar, drums and cello, but at any given show stray instruments, (like mini-keyboards and thumb-pianos) will be elevated to new heights, given a chance to lead the pack (like Rudolf at Christmas time). Each and every performance with Breathe Owl Breathe is a journey, and we hope you will join us in the flying saucer that is ++YURT MUSIC++

¿HOUSE SHOWS? Hello friends old and new, From right near by, Or far and wide. We three have new tunes in our elbows and knees (old ones too, though newly known…) And ready be To travel and sing them to any turtle, dog or flea Who cares to have a listen, or invite us in for tea… Our van will set sail for two weeks time: From April 19 to May 2 shall we twine And wind our way from here to there… Which is why we now reach out to any of  YOU who DARE To HOST us! Yes! To Help us find our way. We are looking for houses, farms, galleries or garages in which to play! Do you or a friend have a corner, garden, deck? To which we could travel—we’re sure it’s worth the trek… Perhaps it’s your birthday! Or you just like making pies… And sharing them with dear ones, filling your home with joyous cries! An excuse to have a potluck, or hot cider by the fire, As you listen to us sing (you can be our back-up choir). This is serious folks—we mean it when we say We want to come and join you, if you’d like and if we may, We’ve played some wild places, in the fray and in the hay… So stop and think. Let your imagination fly… Wouldn’t Aunt Suzie’s big ole living room be worth a try? Please don’t be bashful, think it’s silly or be shy, We’d really love to hear from you—in Seattle or Shanghai! If you want to be in touch, You’ve got a spot, and don’t think it’d be too much To gather 20 friends or so, to come and join the fun, Do write us straight away at: booking@breatheowlbreathe.com Help us map out a tour of some kind. Parameters of practicalities we will need to keep in mind… But don’t hold back! Of creative suggestions we want no lack! Sad but true friends, we sold out fast for this one. We wish we could accommodate more people, but we simply can't, we have a very real capacity and we are full to the gills. THERE WILL NOT BE TICKETS AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR. So please save your self the drive. We hate to do it but we will have to turn un-ticketed guest away. So sorry.

Spirits of the Red City is a collective of friends and musicians originally based in Minneapolis. The sound is a sum of modernist composers, traditional folk and 60s classics.

The sound of Spirits is as eclectic as their tour history - from theaters, living rooms, art galleries to cathedrals, basements, caves and ocean piers.

Through the unrelenting conviction of their performances, a bravely honest lyricism and powerfully heartfelt orchestrations, Spirits has built a strong and wide-reaching community of supporters and fans across the U.S.

Sandy's

Sandy's is a San Francisco based surf rock/experimental band lead by Alexi Glickman (formerly of the Bottacellis). Their particular flavor of rock and roll is decidedly psychedelic, lush and intricate. A sound that washes over the listener in layers and many colors, and reveals more with each listening. In short, a real treat.

Sandy's recently released their first full length album "The Fourth Dementia" and has been touring regionally throughout the summer.

++YURT MUSIC++ kicks of the 2014 season with "TWAIN" (Mat Davidson) July 12'th

     Yurt Music is delighted to welcome Twain as our first artist of 2014. We couldn't think of a better pairing than Twain and the foggy (cozy) coastal sound drum we call the yurt. Take one listen and we're sure you'll agree...

     Twain is the musical incarnation of one Mat Davidson, an incredibly rare and diversified musician whose songs have traveled a long rich road and bear all the depth to prove it.  Though of Bay Area roots, Mat followed the music back East, joining several notable groups including The Low Anthem and past Yurt Music act Spirit Family Reunion. Mat's impressive versatility as a multi-instrumentalist (guitar , mandolin, fiddle, keys, banjo) complemented these groups beautifully and played no small part in their ascension. Yet he is currently taking time to focus on his longtime love, Twain. Just as we were lucky enough to hear Mat combine forces with these great bands, we are equally lucky that he has a stepped to the side of the lime light to pick out a few beautiful tunes for us as Twain.

     Local West Marin duo King Tide (Dylan Flynn and Isaiah Mead) open with original acoustic americana.

     In his fifth and latest release "...In The Choir" Twain has managed to finally find a production style that matches the energy, beauty and thoughtfulness of his songs. This is no insignificant feat, and it commands your full attention. Twains self education in many musicals styles shines through as threads of a greater design, never disjointed. You'll here elements of Folk, Country, Soul, Psychedelic Rock and more. ++YURT MUSIC++ Coastal Concert Series

++YURT MUSIC++ Coastal Concert Series is an ephemeral listening room that comes into being every so often, when musicians and music-goers come together in our coastal yurt to celebrate good music, good people, and the wild beauty of the Northern California coast.

This summer we will be welcoming talented musicians from all over the country to come play in this intimate setting, and we invite the adventurous and young at heart to seek us out for these limited engagements.

Staring 2013 ALL SHOWS WILL BE TICKED.  and pre registration is necessary.  This allows us to keep the numbers manageable (preserving the experience), and to collaborate with more amazing musicians. The ticket prices will always stay affordable, and the concerts are bound to be magical.
