Yurt Music is delighted to welcome Twain as our first artist of 2014. We couldn't think of a better pairing than Twain and the foggy (cozy) coastal sound drum we call the yurt. Take one listen and we're sure you'll agree...
Twain is the musical incarnation of one Mat Davidson, an incredibly rare and diversified musician whose songs have traveled a long rich road and bear all the depth to prove it. Though of Bay Area roots, Mat followed the music back East, joining several notable groups including The Low Anthem and past Yurt Music act Spirit Family Reunion. Mat's impressive versatility as a multi-instrumentalist (guitar , mandolin, fiddle, keys, banjo) complemented these groups beautifully and played no small part in their ascension. Yet he is currently taking time to focus on his longtime love, Twain. Just as we were lucky enough to hear Mat combine forces with these great bands, we are equally lucky that he has a stepped to the side of the lime light to pick out a few beautiful tunes for us as Twain.

In his fifth and latest release "...In The Choir" Twain has managed to finally find a production style that matches the energy, beauty and thoughtfulness of his songs. This is no insignificant feat, and it commands your full attention. Twains self education in many musicals styles shines through as threads of a greater design, never disjointed. You'll here elements of Folk, Country, Soul, Psychedelic Rock and more.
